    Swing Gate Motors

Swing gate automation uses underground or articulated arm motors to power double or single swing gates. These systems are ideal for residential properties and commercial buildings where aesthetic appearance is important, as the motor mechanisms can be completely concealed.

    Technical Overview

    How Swing Gate Motors Work

Swing gate motors operate by converting rotational motor force into the arc movement needed to open and close swing gates. Two main types of motors are used: underground motors that are installed in a foundation box beneath each gate pillar, and articulated arm motors that mount on the gate pillar surface and connect to the gate leaf.

Underground motors use a sealed, IP67-rated casing buried in a drainage-equipped foundation box at the base of each gate pillar. A steel arm extends from the motor shaft and connects to the bottom of the gate leaf. When activated, the motor rotates the arm through a 90° to 180° arc, swinging the gate open. This type is preferred for architectural installations where visible hardware is undesirable.

Articulated arm motors mount on the inside face of the gate pillar and extend an arm that attaches to the gate leaf. The arm folds and unfolds to push or pull the gate through its opening arc. These are easier to install and maintain compared to underground units, and are suitable for most residential and commercial applications.

Both types are controlled via remote transmitters, keypads, or integrated access control systems. The control board manages opening speed, slowdown zones near the end positions, auto-close timers, and safety sensor inputs. Obstacle detection is provided through either built-in motor torque sensing or external infrared safety beams.

    Key Features

    System Capabilities

    Underground Motors

IP67-rated motors concealed in foundation boxes for a clean architectural look. Suitable for heavy gates up to 800 kg per leaf.

    Articulated Arm Motors

Surface-mounted arms that fold and extend to swing gates open. Easy installation on existing pillars with minimal civil work.

    Remote Control

Rolling-code encrypted remotes with multi-channel capability. GSM modules available for smartphone-based gate control.

    Keypad Entry

Weather-resistant keypads for PIN-based access. Support for multiple user codes with time-based access scheduling.

    Access Control Integration

Seamless connection to card readers, biometric scanners, vehicle loop detectors, and intercom systems.

    Obstacle Detection

Motor torque sensing and external infrared beams detect obstructions and automatically reverse gate direction for safety.
